Lot 13 of the Operational Programme “Regional Development” (OPRD) includes three road sections:
• Road III-597 Dabovets–road fork Malki Voden
• Road III-663 Chirpan–Dimitrovgrad
• III-5071 Chiflik–Gorna krepost–Stremtsi–C

The total length of the sections is 22,6 km. They have been in poor operating conditions and in the last five years major repairs have not been done.

The first comprehensive rehabilitation of the areas is being carried out under the Operational Programme “Regional Development” 2007-2013 and it is co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). It has been launched in September 2010.
As of today, the progress on the completed road work is about one-third.

The rehabilitation of road III-597 is important for the linking of the Municipality of Ivaylovgrad with the Municipalities of Madzharovo and Lyubimets. The road is linked with the international highway I-8 /E-80/ “Kalotina–Sofia–Plovdiv–Svilengrad–Turkey” and Greece, as well as with the prospective new check point “Ivaylovgrad–Slaveevo– Kiprinos”.
Most of the preparatory works and earthworks for the plot have been carried out.

The road section III-663 “Chirpan–Dimitrovgrad” links the Municipality of Dimitrovgrad with the Municipalities of Chirpan and Simeonovgrad. It also makes the link with road I-5 (E-85) “Makaza–Haskovo–Stara Zagora–Ruse”. The rehabilitated road section will provide a link with “Trakia” Motorway.

The rehabilitation of road III-5071 “Chiflik–Gorna krepost–Stremtsi–Chernoochene” is important because it provides the linkage with the Archaeological complex “Perperikon” - a site of national importance in the field of cultural and historical heritage.

The project cost is15 225 388,84 BGN. The contractor is “Trace Rodopi” Union and the construction supervisor – “Ecoengineering Ltd.–Kardzhali.

The amount of the co-financing from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) is 12 941 580,51 BGN.
